Bird Food, also known as Bird Seed, is an item that has appeared in a few of the games in the Rusty Lake series. It is used to feed birds, though the only bird seen being fed so far is Harvey.
Cube Escape: Seasons[]
In the Spring, the bird seed can be found in the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink. It is put in the feeder in the bird cage to feed Harvey, in order to get him to lay a black egg.
Cube Escape: Theatre[]
In the third play, "The Fish and the Parrot", a pink flower obtained from a previous play is planted in a pot. Arranging a series of pipes allows it to be watered, and it will drop bird seeds. These are used with a rearranged system of the same pipes to feed Harvey, who will in turn lay a black egg.
Rusty Lake: Roots[]
In 1930, Frank Vanderboom is in his house's attic looking for the silver timepiece. The bird seed can be found next to the locked box containing the timepiece. It is put into the feeder by the window to attract Harvey, who then delivers Emma's letter.
Cube Escape: Paradox[]
In the player's future mind, Harvey's Song is played to call Harvey back into the room. He says the word "Johnsson", referring to an advertisement found in the telephone book, Johnsson Bird Food. Calling their phone number, the player requests they deliver parrot food, which they say they will deliver in the future. The bird food is left on the windowsill, and is fed to Harvey. He then lays a black egg.
The White Door[]
Once Bob begins his stay at The White Door, he brings with him a box of his belongings from his job at Johnsson Bird Food. Inside the box is a bag of bird food which he needs for one of the questions asked by Sarah, in order to help him return his memory.
During his second dream, he remembers the day he was fired from Johnsson Bird Food. After arriving to the factory late, he starts his job sorting the packages of bird food and different seeds. However, he accidentally triggers an emergency shutdown, resulting in his boss firing him. While he puts his belongings from his locker into a box, he takes a package of bird food with him.
Trivia[]
- The bird seed that appears in Cube Escape: Seasons and Rusty Lake: Roots have the same package, but contain different types of feed.
- In The White Door, it is shown that the types of seeds used in the bird food are maize, sunflower, rapeseed, and canary grass.
