The following is a list of the patients being held captive in the basement at The White Door.

  • Bart Leeghwater was born in July of 1900 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and was a lab employee. He was admitted in 1960, being supervised by Dr. J. Grant at security level 3. He was noted as having mental, eye and lung abnormalities, as well as cold extremities. He was observed as suffering from work, environmental, and toxic issues, and had difficulty with speech that led to anger attacks. During these attacks, he would begin to hyperventilate from breathlessness and his vision would become blurred. After his escape from the basement, a letter is found addressed to "Lisa" from an unknown person, where they revealed that they left the cube at a bar by Bart's old place where he worked before getting sick. They mention that they need to order a Bloody Mary to get the cube from the people behind the counter.
  • Giulio Trentino was born on August 7, 1910 in Milan, Italy, and was a dental surgeon. He was admitted on March 28, 1968, being supervised by Dr. P. Clark at security level 3. He is noted as having mental abnormalities and bad hearing. When he had a volunteer scientific operation for Alzheimer's with a poor recovery, he began showing signs of Hypoactive Delirium. On April 3, 1968, his condition worsened and "treatment #101" was started immediately. After his escape from the basement, a recording is found where an unknown person revealed that the cube was delivered to the game store. They mention to ask for Federico, and that Giulio would be proud of them.
  • Jin-ho Kim was born on September 25, 1950 in Busan, South Korea, and was a barber. He was admitted on February 19, 1968, being supervised by Dr. J. Grant at security level 2. He was noted as having depression and social instability, and was forgetful about events while not accepting this fact himself. In March of 1968, he was observed as displaying expressionless behavior. Finally in December of 1971, he was believed to be suffering from a hidden Schizophrenic Disorder and a new treatment and tests would begin on the next week, supervised by Dr. P. Clark.
  • Leonie Poisson was born on February 18, 1932 in Montreal, Canada, and was unemployed. She was admitted on May 14, 1970, being supervised by Dr. C. Adams at security level 5. She was noted as having suicidal thinking, low energy, aggressive panic attacks, and an unspoken reason for feeling guilty. On December 11, 1970, she was suspected of developing anorexia nervosa but it is unclear when it started. After her escape from the basement, a letter was found addressed to "Jim" where she revealed that she did not have long to live anymore. She told Jim about a special artifact that she was the only thing she brought with her when she left the institute, and that it is important that it stays in possession of their family. Having left the artifact at a café, she told him to go there and ask for "the cube".
  • Linda Kirkland was born on August 9, 1946 in San Francisco, USA, and was unemployed. She was admitted on November 21, 1970, being supervised by Dr. C. Adams at security level 4. She was noted as having severe depression and nightmares from PTSD. On December 14, 1970, she was observed as having repeating nightmares about a red bird flying away. Later on February 16, 1971, she was reported as having a increased level of anger, and needing calming medication for her anxiety. After her escape from the basement, a letter was found addressed to "Natalie" where she revealed that she was going to commit suicide but that she left a gift for her at the café where they used to play games. She told her to go there and ask for the cube.
  • Rio Kobayashi was born on May 15, 1901 in Tokyo, Japan, and was a restaurant accountant. She was admitted in 1963, being supervised by Dr. J. Grant at security level 3. She was noted as having mental abnormalities, and refusing to eat. Suffering from shifting moods, her crying would accelerate into panicked laughter. She also was observed speaking to her dead husband at night. On June 24, 1963, she began showing sudden worsening symptoms of hysteria.
  • Susan Fisher was born on November 23, 1933 in London, England, and was a police officer. She was admitted on December 31, 1972, being supervised by Dr. A. L. P. Allis at security level 2. She was noted as having hallucinations, and that she must be watched closely as she is highly manipulative. On April 8, 1972, she was registered as displaying aggressive behavior towards an assistant. Then on April 11, she began having nocturnal panic attacks with vocal aggression. Finally on April 13, she began having strong anxiety problems. After her escape from the basement, a recording was found where she mentioned that she left her cube at a café.
  • Tobiasz Olszewski was born on March 25, 1949 in Kraków, Poland, and was unemployed. He was admitted on September 2, 1971, being supervised by Dr. C. Adams at security level 3. He was noted as having mental and teeth abnormities. He suffered from great sleep disturbances causing sensations of delusions and hallucinations, as well as missing most of his teeth. From a previous patient record on April 4, 1968, he was observed as having angry conversations with himself and needed to his medication increased to a double dose. After his escape from the basement, a letter was found congratulating the reader on coming this far and to ask for the cube with the password at the University, and gave a description of the buildings surrounding it.
  • Yuliana Kazantseva was born on May 15, 1949 in Moscow, Russia, and was an industrial economist. She was admitted on January 6, 1968, being supervised by Dr. T. Hoorn at security level 5. She was noted as having ear and mental abnormalities. On February 9, 1968, she was observed as having poor hearing in her right ear and being easily disorientated, which was believed to be signs of an early form of Alzheimer's. After her escape from the basement, a recording was found in Morse code, which revealed that her cube could be found at a bar and to be careful.
  • Zhang Yong Li was born on April 4, 1917 in Shanghai, China, and was a salesman. He was admitted on February 7, 1972, being supervised by Dr. A. L. P. Allis at security level 5. He was noted as having mental abnormalities, although everything seemed normal. However, he had suffered from a dissociative episode followed by an inexplicable seizure.
