The Newscaster is a minor character in the Rusty Lake series.
Cube Escape: Seasons[]
In the Fall of 1971, he appears on Channel 5 on the television when the player turns it on to complete a puzzle required to get a black cube. During his first appearance, he is announcing the death of Laura, which is at first suspected to be a homicide, but he later appears once again on the television to speculate whether Laura's death was a homicide or a suicide.
The White Door[]
The Newscaster appears in 1972, during Bob's third dream. While flipping through the television channels, he stumbles upon the Newscaster reporting on Laura's death with there being no sign of the killer. Later in Bob's fifth dream, the Newscaster is briefly seen as a party-goer at The Lost Soul.
Trivia[]
- His appearance is similar to that of Ron Burgundy, a character played by Will Ferrell in the Anchorman series.
- In The White Door, the Newscaster's television report differs from the one appearing in Cube Escape: Seasons in that photos of Laura (taken from the ending of The White Door and from the crime scene in Cube Escape: Case 23) are displayed on the news station's screen.
