The Vandermeer House is the main setting for the seventh game in the Cube Escape series, Cube Escape: Birthday. It is the home of Dale Vandermeer in his youth, during the year 1939, along with his mother, father, grandfather and the family cat.
Cube Escape: Birthday[]
The house appears to be small, with only one visible room that contains a small seating area and a kitchen. There is also a Rusty Lake Theatre poster and Van Gogh's "Starry Night" painting on the walls, and a clock with a small square compartment which can hold cubes.
During the events of the game, Mr. Rabbit breaks down the front and opens fire with a sub-machine gun, killing Dale's parents and grandfather. After Mr. Rabbit leaves, the house has changed drastically, with the walls covered in blood and bullet holes. In one of the locked kitchen cupboards, there is a snowglobe that the player can input dates into. The player can look inside and see the Rusty Lake Hotel, allowing Mr. Owl to speak to Dale and give him a watch. Inputting a secret code allows the player to watch as the Corrupted Souls escape from the Rusty Lake Hotel.
Soundtrack[]
- The track that plays initially in this room is named "Birthday Piano Theme". When Mr. Rabbit attacks, the theme changes to an out of tune variation of "Birthday Piano Theme". Both versions can be found on the official soundtrack.
